In my opinion, mathematics, chemistry, accounting and statistics can be described as experiential learning subjects. There may be more such subjects falling under this classification.

Language learning subjects:

In languages the most important skills to hone for good results rotate around grammar rules, spell rules, sentence building rules and writing rules. You must know them by heart.

For the English language the biggest stumbling block can be the correct tense rule for the perfect tenses and the past participative usage or the correct sequential placement of nouns, verbs and adjectives in a sentence.

English is not my native language, but Afrikaans. In high school I was fortunate enough with two highly acclaimed teachers in English, who drilled the correct rules into pupils with ample exercises.

I became so good in English, better than the average Afrikaans speaking person anyway, that in later years my Secretaries handling my English correspondence all decided to abandon the usage of dictionaries in favour of the English knowledge locked up in my brain, as it gave them quicker correct results.

In your later career life the correct usage of a language becomes more important as the whole business world requires it. You cannot escape it.
